Demand Plan Statistics

With the exception of Last Month Plan, Last Month Actual, and Lag 1, 2, and 3 which will always be monthly bucket based, all other Demand Plan statistics are tied to the bucket type selected.

When monthly buckets are selected, the statistics are calculated through end of the last month

When weekly buckets are selected, the statistics are calculated through end of the last week.

Statistics Calculations

Closed orders include closed and partially shipped customer orders. Open orders include open and partially open customer orders

Definition of Demand Plan metrics:

  • Name: Name of the entity
  • Code: Code of the entity. Applicable to only item level.
  • Last 5 Weeks Actual: Sum of both Closed orders within the last month and Open orders with due date within the last 5 weeks in units
  • Last 5 Weeks Plan: Last 5 weeks actual plan in units
  • Last 5 Weeks Error: Calculated Error over last 5 weeks. If positive, actual exceeded plan. If negative, actual fell short of plan.
  • Last Month Actual: Sum of both Closed orders within the last month and Open orders with due date till the end of the last month. Monthly buckets only
  • Last Month Plan: Demand Plan value for last month bucket (taken form approved data 1 month ago). Monthly buckets only
  • Error: Last month actual versus plan. If positive, actual exceeded plan. If negative, actual fell short of plan.

  • Last Ytd Actual: Sum of closed orders from last fiscal year start until one year ago until last bucket end
  • Ytd Actual: Sum of both Closed orders and Open orders with due date till the end of the last bucket
  • Ytd YOY %:  YTD Actual vs Last YTD Actual as a percentage
  • Ytd Plan: Demand Plan value from the beginning of the year till the end of the last bucket
  • Ytd %: YTD Actual vs YTD Plan as a percentage
  • Progress To Plan: How YTD Actual has performed against the fiscal year total demand plan. If the value is greater than 100% it means actual is exceeding the plan. YTD Actual / FY Plan
  • Should Be At: Where YTD Plan should be against the fiscal year total demand plan. The time frame is based on the current fiscal year period. YTD Plan / FY Plan
  • Past Due: The open delivery quantity of all Open customer orders which are due till the end of last bucket
  • Balance Last Year Actual: Sum of closed orders from the start of the current bucket one year ago until the end of last year
  • Balance FY Demand Plan: The remaining demand plan until the end of the current fiscal year starting this bucket
  • Balance FY %: Balance FY Demand Plan vs Balance Last Year Actual as a percentage
  • Last Year Actual: Sum of closed orders from the start to the end of last fiscal year
  • Total Projected Demand >> The sum of past actual and forward plan together. A way to provide visibility to past actual and forward plan together. See below for more information.
  • Total Year on Year (YOY): Total Projected Demand vs Last Year Actual as a percentage

Total projected demand = Projected demand for past buckets + Projected demand for current buckets + Projected demand for future buckets


Past Current Future
Total Projected Demand Sum of the Closed Customer Orders plus Past Due Open Customer Orders for each bucket in the past buckets of the Current Fiscal Year

Will be the greater of the following two:

A = Open Customer Orders + Closed Customer Orders

B = Total Demand Plan

within the current bucket.

Will be the greater of the following two:

A = Open Customer Orders

B = Total Demand Plan

within the future buckets of the Current Fiscal Year

Lag Calculations

Lag 1: Last Month Actual vs Last Month Plan (taken form approved data 1 month ago) as a percentage

Lag 2: Last Month Actual vs Last Month Plan (taken form approved data 2 month ago) as a percentage

Lag 3: Last Month Actual vs Last Month Plan (taken form approved data 3 month ago) as a percentage
