The orders are color coded as follows: Orders pulled from the operating system are designated by a black font. Other color codes can be applied depending on the type of order. Hovering your mouse over any cell provides the detail of the order. If the DemandCaster deployment is setup for capacity planning, you may click on the shop order order number and you will be taken to the Capacity Analysis view.
- Independent Demand: This is where open customer orders are placed. if a forecast cells has a red border, it means that the demand cell has overwritten the forecast for that period because it is greater when the Order/Forecast or Make/Purchase to Order consumption models are used.
- Dependent Demand: This column includes the pass down planned requirement orders from a BOM explosion and/or DRP explosion. Hovering your mouse over any cell provides the detail of the order that is hyperlinked to its destination.
- Forecast: The forecast serves as the demand plan input. Forecasts may be edited by clicking the pencil in the header. The user may manually enter a user defined forecast. When S&OP in enabled, any user defined demand plan edits made here are overwritten by the approved demand plan.
