Planning Policy and Item Setting Organization

As a default, DemandCaster uses the settings from your ERP system as the basis for planning. Override of those settings and new settings are managed in any of the following interfaces:

  • System Settings
  • Selection Page or any Analytics page item edit/multi-edit option
  • Item Planning Detail Options tab
  • Data Maintenance

Global Settings

Global setting are managed in the System Settings interface by clicking on the gear icon and then clicking on System Settings.

Global settings are the default planning settings for all items.

A setting of ERP means that the value in the ERP is used as the basis for planning an item. For example, lead times, stocking types, make versus buy, may all use the default ERP planning setting or may be overwritten to use a user specified setting.

Changes made at the item level are overrides to the global/default settings.

Item based settings are managed from the Item Selection interface or any of the analytic pages by selecting one or many items and clicking on the edit button in the menu bar.

Any changes made to settings via multi-edit will require a new Requirement Plan to be run for the changes to apply.
